Most Theologians, Psychologists, and Philosophers would agree with a statement Jesus made 2000 years ago: Matt. 12:37 (NAS): “For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.” Therefore, let’s let Illinois Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin’s words either justify or condemn him. It should be obvious that when the second most powerful Democrat in the Senate compared our military personal with Nazis … given his powerful position in the Senate, both he and his party knew what they were doing. This statement reveals both his and his party’s ‘heart’ … their agenda. The agenda? Regain power at any cost … even if it jeopardizes the welfare of the American Military. Furthermore, when Durbin made this comparison he not only denigrated our military, but also those who suffered and died in those camps. Millions were systematically tortured and killed under those regimes … not one has suffered that fate at Guantanamo (GITMO). Certainly Durbin knows this and knows America is doing its best to treat these prisoners humanely. When asked for an apology … at first he refused, then after pressure he tried to place blame elsewhere (mean spirited right wingers who were taking the statement out of context), finally on 6/21 … almost a week later … he apologized from the Senate floor. Here are his controversial words: “If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime, Pol Pot or others that had no concern for human beings” . How can one take that out of context? It is what it is.
If the ‘Derbinites’ had their way what would they do? Would they close GITMO? What then? Would they bring these terrorists to this nation where they could influence other prisoners and spread their jihad? Or would they set them free so that they could kill more Americans? Several who had been deemed as ‘reformed’ and freed were re-captured … again … on the battle field trying to kill Americans. America must understand that prisoners at GITMO are not nice people. They are much more of a threat to American Society than most who reside on it’s death rows. When these men were captured trying to kill Americans they were there without uniform or a claim to national citizenship. Since they swore no allegiance … other than to the jihad … they rationally fall into the category of ‘enemy combatants’ … not Prisoners of War (POW’s). Furthermore, the military has attempted to give them a trial, via a military tribunal, but liberal judges have insisted they are protected by our Constitution. Consequently many liberals are providing lawyers for them … even though their crimes and their interment are outside of the United States. So let’s get this straight … these international terrorists … claiming no allegiance save their deity … are protected by the American Constitution … give me a break!
American humane treatment of prisoners and enemies is legend. But those efforts are all but obliterated by the likes of Durbin Democrats. Ironically, nowhere do we see Liberal outrage at the way westerners are routinely tortured and killed by jihad.
It is time to remind the left that during the Clinton Administration al Qaeda declared war on the United States (1996) and for over 5 years we ignored their determination. Nine-eleven did more than merely accentuate their extremism … it killed over 3000 American non-combatants.. Make no mistake … they attacked us. Since then America has appropriately and aggressively sought out and attempted to destroy them while simultaneously freeing millions from tyranny. America has bent over backward to accommodate prisoners and their belief system during these wars. It is time politicians on both sides of the aisle stand by our military and accentuate the ‘rule’ of goodness that has been and is America, rather than the few miscues that are the ‘exceptions’.
