Former American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Head of Archives Ms. Janet Linde should be awarded the “Deep Throat Snitch Award” for 2005. Not only has she has publically warned that employees and executives of her beloved ACLU are shredding documents, but has also, unlike the original ‘deep throat’ (FBI snitch Mark Felt) resigned her post. Destroying evidence is no small event in any organization … but when purposely accomplished by America’s self appointed ‘watchdog’ it is treacherous. Furthermore, the ACLU has been the leading critic of the War Against Terror and repeatedly accuses our government of a variety of abuses. If they are shredding their sources this treachery may well have been elevated to treason. So it was with keen interest I read the June 5th New York Times article by Stephanie Strom. She states: “The American Civil Liberties Union has been shredding some documents over the repeated objections of its records manager and in conflict with its longstanding policies on the preservation and disposal of records.” Furthermore Strom points out that this has been ongoing: “Janet Linde, who oversaw the A.C.L.U.’s archives for over a decade until she resigned last month, raised concerns in e-mail messages and memorandums for over two years that officials’ use of shredders in their offices made a mockery of the organization’s policy to supervise document destruction and created potential legal risks.” Thus, according to Linde, the ACLU is in effect holding their opponents to the letter of the law, while they adopt their own policy that the ‘ends justify the means’. Their arrogance has no bounds. Can you imagine their outrage … let alone the press coverage … were our military to have shredded documents dealing with any aspect of our war against Islamic Terrorism … i.e. Guantanamo or Abu Grav?
The ACLU has long been given plenty of latitude surviving on the tired statement that ‘somebody has to protect our rights’. This is the group responsible for blocking any form of border security, releasing documents which are harmful to our servicemen and women in combat, and suing anybody in site that mentions God in public. This is the group which is singularly responsible for taking prayer out of our schools, the Boy Scouts out of our parks, and Christ out of our Christmas. They defend the likes of the National Man Boy Love Association (NMBLA), an organization which advocates the rape of little boys, while never questioning radical Islam’s execution of pedofies, homosexuals, and adulterers. They defend jihadists killing our soldiers, yet ignore the plight of Middle Eastern Citizens maimed and killed by car bombs and Improvised Explosive Devices by the same jihad. Perhaps they have embraced the ancient saying: “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” … and make no mistake the ACLU feels the American Public and its Constitution are their enemy. Why else would they nullify any accomplishments the people achieve in their legislatures to put common sense back into our society with their antidote … court action?
The most important question remains … what are they shredding? Since they have been active in fighting nearly all aspects of the War on Terror … could they be shredding documents pertinent to national security? Could they be aiding and abetting our enemy in the jihad? This accusation is not without credibility as witnesses claim they have seen bags of shredded, yet unidentified, documents: “In January 2004, an employee found bags of shredded documents outside a freight elevator and alerted the archival staff. We really need to get this shredding documented if there is that much of it going on … Employees in the departments with the shredders signed the sheets, according to a memorandums (policies), but rarely noted what they were shredding.” Linde stated.
Ms. Linde is a true American hero. She epitomizes the spirit of ‘deep throat’ and has nothing to gain from her accusations. News like this, were it against any corporate, religious, or government organizations would be grounds for suit … and the first in line would be the ACLU. Where is the media frenzy which would have undoubtedly accompanied such an accusation against a conservative organization? Where are the adjectives like heroic, chivalrous, and awe-inspiring which the main stream media has heaped on the self-serving turncoat and pardoned felon … former Deputy FBI Director Mark Felt? A “Google search” of the word Linde brings only one source, that of the heretofore mentioned article. Thus, this most important information is all be being ignored by the media at all levels. In fact it may be notable that nobody has even bothered to give her a nickname … let alone a book deal!
