After spending over five thousand of America’s most valuable commodity … American lives (911 plus service men and women killed in battle), Americans are still confused on the basics of the War on Terror. I cannot blame them. Confusion reigns for two reasons: first is the liberal’s unrelenting hammering with unfounded accusations about the war, its rational, as well as its prosecution; second is the Administration’s ineptness at communicating the basics. But that does not alleviate the gravity of the situation.
Due to this, many Americans simply refuse to acknowledge the danger and wish to appease the jihad. The first thing we must understand is that they are fascists and wish to restore Islamic world domination. The second is their fascism, not unlike the Japanese in WWII, is accompanied by religious fanaticism. The Islamo-fascist believes not only that they have been ‘chosen’ for this mission, but also for the express task of imposing Islamic law on their conquered lands. Their methods have been radical and target innocent civilians as well as school children
Iran recently revealed footage of a school for homicide bombers. They boasted that their target for these misguided missiles is America … specifically its military facilities in Iraq. They warn these ‘students’ will be unleashed if their nuclear facilities are attacked. Of course we can trust that these ‘scholars’ will merely stay at home and practice blowing themselves up … right?
Furthermore, the left is asking that the American government must ‘understand’ these people and show more compassion by granting captured terrorists Constitutional Rights. Yet most media outlets, in their schizoid mania, simultaneously condone limiting freedom of the press to Americans by refusing print the controversial Danish political cartoons.
But don’t just blame the left … even the Bush Administration is sending mixed messages. First they were slow to interpret tapes which expressly locate the Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). Now that some have been interpreted, and revealed both the location and disposition of Saddam’s WMD, they refuse to stress the accuracy of our espionage and rational for this war. Furthermore, in what can only be called an inane attempt to appease the Middle Eastern Community, the Bush Administration has approved the management of several of our largest ports by a parent company based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Not only has he approved this take over, but is threatening his first veto should Congress act to block it. Let’s address the obvious; in a time of war is it rational to allow any but Americans to manage our ports? The second point makes the first pale in comparison, even if we were to allow foreign management of ports, which we do, is it wise to hand over that power to a nation that is bent on the destruction of Israel and provided funds for terrorists involved in 911? And finally, will America be safer by allowing the UAE access to the methods of security used in our ports?
I assert that most Americans are simply confused by all of this rhetoric. One need only listen to the chatter coming from the left: Gore, Carter, and Dean weekly expose the idea that America is always wrong, as long as it is not run by them … and much of their criticism comes on foreign soil, and at times, Islamic soil. Clinton’s former Sec. of Labor, Robert Reich, wrote an op ed comparing Islam’s response to the Danish political cartoons (violence, destruction of property, and death) to the Martin Luther King’s peaceful civil rights movement in America. Not to be outflanked by his leftist friends, the former President, while in Pakistan delivering a speech, asked for the criminal prosecution of those Danish cartoonists. Then the lone hawk in the bevy, G.W. Bush, who contends we are at war for our very existence, virtually censors the Saddam tapes and approves the UAE port management.
That is why Americans at all levels, save the military, have apparently been unable to grasp the importance of this worldwide jihad … a crusade by any other standard … against any people not in lock step with their Islamo-fascist ideology. Folks, if this war is ever to end with America still standing, never mind winning the hearts and minds of the fascists, how about winning the hearts and minds of Americans.
