Dear friends and family:

First from my friend John quoting Winston Chruchill:
‘If you are a youth without being a liberal, You have no heart.

If you are an adult and remain a liberal, you have no mind.’

– Winston Churchill

Next from Andy Rooney via Jamestown Patti:

They’re written by Andy Rooney , a man who has the gift of saying so much with so few words.Enjoy…….

I’ve learned…. That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.

I’ve learned…. That when you’re in love, it shows.

I’ve learned…. That just one person saying to me, ‘You’ve made my day!’ makes my day.

I’ve learned…. That I can always pray for someone when I don’t have the strength to help him in some other way.

I’ve learned…. That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.

I’ve learned…. That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

I’ve learned…. That we should be glad God doesn’t give us everything we ask for.

I’ve learned…. That money doesn’t buy class.

I’ve learned…. That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.

I’ve learned…. That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

I’ve learned…. That when your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist, that you’re hooked for life.

I’ve learned…. That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.

I’ve learned…. That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

< Specific prayer requests:

First from Jamestown Patti:

Hi Bill,

Jamestown Patti needs some urgent prayer requests for my niece Jen’s
babies; firstly little baby Ronan, 2 months tomorrow, has had a slight
jaundice (higher than normal bilirubin) but that has gone down but now the
pediatrician noted he may be anemic and ordered blood work and ultra-
sounds of his liver and gallbladder and entire abdomen and they find a
coarse looking liver–which may be due to inflammation and a fullness in
one of his kidneys–there is also a possibility of a blockage in one of the
ducts … also little Griffin needs prayer due to extreme allergies to dairy,
eggs, beef, pork etc. They are also going to test Griffin for possible
Gilbert’s disease. Please ask all your warriors to start praying. And
know that I’m continuing to pray for all your special requests, especially
for your brother Pat.

Love and blessings to you and Marilyn,
Jamestown Patti

From unknown parents for their child:
Greetings in Christ.
During Joseph’s current round of intensive chemotherapy, his blood counts are higher than above normal. His blood counts should be dropping rather than rising. So, this has drawn a concern and has caused the Drs to scratch their heads as to why.
The Drs said that “Joseph’s body is fighting something but we don’t know what.” The Drs are going to stop the chemo for a week and re-evaluate. This could indicate a relapse but then again it may not. We just don’t know. So, we are sending out this plea for prayer for God to again sustain and heal Joseph. Please pray with us:
That there would be no cancer relapse.
That God would correct this blood count anomaly and heal whatever is going on in Joseph’s body.
That God would continue to sustain Joseph.
That God would enable the chemotherapy to work in eradicating the cancer from his body.
That God would grant Joseph and all of us endurance and strength in this current situation.
A special birthday for Joseph – He turns 5 years old on Saturday, August 2.

Again, we are grateful to God that you are crying out to Him on our behalf. We know He hears and answers the prayers of His people.

….so that it may be said, “Look how much the Lord has had mercy on His people!”

In loving gratitude,

Omar & Mervat

On the Bellavia front, David will be returning to Iraq next week with the Vets for Freedom, please keep him in prayer for safety, traveling mercy, and a success bringing the soldiers and Marines message back to the States.

Another note for prayer from an unknown parent:

Our daughter Holly has a friend who had a baby last Sunday and he, Jameson S, was born with a condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa. This means that he was born without the outer layer of skin on his body. This is a very painful condition which requires him to wear bandages all over and he is HIGHLY prone to infection. His parents have not even been abot to hold him yet. I don’t know the prognosis for the future but, according to the Internet, only 10,000 people in all of the United States have this condition. It is very expensive to deal with and a lot of insurance companies won’t cover the cost of care. Please pray for this baby.

Answered Prayer:

Our brother Pat recieved a new liver last Saturday and we were just informed he is being transfered out of Intensive Care tonight (Tues). Pray that he does not reject the liver and continues to recover without infection.

One of my prayer partners, Ron (wife Judy) for whom we have been praying due to the loss of Ron’s father and the placement of his mother in a nursing facility (dementia) … his Mom was placed yesterday and will recieve the care she needs.
Here is a note from Judy:
Thanks for all your prayers. Just letting you know that this afternoon Ron’s Mom went into a nursing home – Our Lady of Peace in Lewiston behind St. Mary’s Hospital (5 year old state-of-the-art home), which was our first choice. She’s in a dementia unit in a double room but larger than most with a half-wall between the beds with dresser and nightstand and chair. She’s on the first floor and can look out the window toward a school playground so can watch the children play – how special is that! … the staff already noted that she’s easy to distract and made her feel comfortable … of course it helped that we left her just before supper. Eating is one of her joys, so it will be interesting to see if they provide her with enough snacks between meals as she’s use to. How often to visit is something that we will have to figure out as we don’t want her to think we’ve come to take her home and want her to have time to adjust. Next week we head to CA for our Kairos (prison ministry) summer conference so won’t be around to visit that week, but our neighbor and Mom’s weekly tea lady will be visiting at least once. We took in three photo frames with names to help the staff have conversation pieces, which should help some … Thanks again for your ongoing prayers for us.

Blessings,

Judy
