Dear Friends and Family:
Our brother Pat had his liver transplant performed at Strong Memorial Hospital (Rochester, NY) on Saturday.
< We visited him today and he was responsive, but very swollen. He was still in ICU with Mary by his side. He is not out of danger but it appears the liver is functioning and, Lord willing, he will recover. Please keep praying.
Obama Nation …
During Obama’s world tour he decided to cancel an opportunity to visit wounded service men and women in Germany. The initial statement from his political camp was universally accepted, according to Fox News: “Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs said Friday the campaign was initially given clearance to land at Ramstein Air Base, but were told by the Pentagon Wednesday that the trip “would be viewed as a campaign stop.” They hoped that nobody would dig and find that this was not the whole story. Soon after the spin misters released that story, the Pentagon made it clear that the Senator could have visited the troops, as long as he did not take the press with him. He could use his Senate Aids, but not the press corps which had accompanied his every move on his world tour. In effect Obama cancelled the visit when told by the Pentagon that he could not take his entourage. This is the man, who has been anointed the king of the world by the media. The anointed decided it was more important to go to the gym and exercise, rather than visit our troops without the press. He, in effect said, if he could not make political hay out of it, then why bother? Why bother to visit and thank men and women who for the sake of patriotism have sacrificed life and limb, so that men who have little or no national experience can achieve the American Dream and become President of the United States. Men and women who put their lives on the line for those who refuse to wear a flag lapel or place their hand over their hearts when the national anthem is playing. Men and women who are suffering wounds for the sake of those who worship at centers which damn America, are simply not worthy of his time.
Or am I wrong? Perhaps it is, as his people are spinning: “During his trip as part of the CODEL to Afghanistan and Iraq, Senator Obama visited the combat support hospital in the GreenZone in Baghdad and had a number of other visits with the troops.
“For the second part of his trip, the senator wanted to visit the men and women at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center to express his gratitude for their service and sacrifice. The senator decided out of respect for these servicemen and women that it would be inappropriate to make a stop to visit troops at a U.S. military facility as part of a trip funded by the campaign.”
Yahoo sees it this way: “Obama’s aides asked that he visit Wounded Iraq Veterans in Germany. As in American Vets….. They were told he was more than welcome to visit our wounded Vets. But he was not allowed to bring the Media….
He decided to “work out” instead…. His excuse was it was a conflict of interest since his campaign funds were funding this “tour” through Europe. Hello? So his campaign funded him “working out? What’s the difference?”
Far be it for us mortals to use logic or rational when royalty is making decisions. After all in the Obama Nation we must learn that all decisions coming down to us serfs are for our greater good.
If they weren’t they simply would not have been made by such a man. Yet, my question is more fundamental than that of the writers at Yahoo, what is the difference in the wounded at the hospital in Baghdad’s Green Zone and those in Germany? Did he not respect those wounded in the Green Zone, after all it was on the same trip “funded by the campaign”?
If McCain had made this same mistake and been this unappreciative of the sacrifice of our troops, then tried to spin it as feebly as this, it would be his Abu Ghraib. Therefore, I conclude that the more experienced Senator is correct when he said, “Barack Obama is wrong. It is never ‘inappropriate’ to visit our men and women in the military.”
