“Bill, don’t you understand the significance of this election? For the first time America has a chance to ‘make up’ for her vile treatment of African Americans in her history. For the first time we have a candidate who promises change and will bring new policies to Washington. For the first time in my lifetime I have hope in the political process. Where else but America could a man from a former race of slaves with an Islamic name be elevated to the highest office in the land? Bellavia, you are wrong on this one.”
That is what I was told by many bloggers based on their hope for change, back in November. So I assured them I would give this president a chance. But I warned, I wish I knew what “change” meant, I wish his wife would not have made that statement that “for the first time in her adult life she was proud of America”, I wish he would not have refused to pledge to the flag, wear a flag on his lapel, or provide his birth certificate. For that matter I wish he wouldn’t have sat in the pews of Jeremiah Wright for over twenty years, and I wish he would have answered differently to the question on reparations (monetary payment to African Americans today for the mistake of slavery two centuries ago). Glen Beck brought that issue up again this week on his Fox News program. When asked if he would support reparations the president, then candidate, said no, but qualified his answer: “No, because reparations do not go far enough.” Not far enough? My fear then, and my fear now is that judging by his actions and his words, this president, does not respect America. And at this time in history, when we are fighting two wars, this is a very dangerous precedent.

How many times do we have to hear him or a leader from his administration apologize for former actions of this nation… on foreign soil, before we “get it”. But make no mistake; the president’s attitude about the white majority was revealed in his assessment of the Cambridge police and his radical friend, the Professor Louis Gates. Here is how our president inserted himself in this debacle on his prime time news conference Wednesday evening (notes from news conference): Obama acknowledges that he doesn’t know the facts in the case… yet he feels that it’s appropriate to comment. Our president ‘assumed’ his friend was the victim of racism. Rather than refusing to comment because he admittedly lacked the proper information, or to take the part of the police who risk their lives on a daily basis to protect our very lives and limbs, he took the opportunity to further the gap between blacks and whites. He seized this opportunity to stoke the flames of racism. He made these three points without reading the police report and admittedly knowing none of the facts. #1 any of us would be pretty angry, would we? Or would we have been grateful for the reaction of the police to protect our homes? #2 the Cambridge police acted stupidly… did they, or did they merely respond to a 911 call and attempt to protect the occupant from a possible home invasion? And #3 there is a long history of African American and Latinos being stopped disproportionately… while this is true, what does it have to do with this case? Our president assumed the worst from the police, because Gates is his friend.
Let’s find out who this “esteemed professor” is? According to Worldnetdaily, 7/24/09 in an article by Aaron Klein, Gates is a professor of African Studies at Harvard with ties to both the communist party and radical black activists… as well as a friend of our president. “Henry Louis Gates Jr., the Harvard professor at the center of the current national race controversy, has recruited radical black activists to his university department, is a prominent supporter of reparations for the descendents of slaves and has immortalized a communist and socialist activist.
Since 1991, Gates has been teaching African American studies at Harvard, where he serves as the director of the W. E. B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research. De Bois, an American civil rights activist, sociologist, historian and author, was an avowed communist and also a socialist sympathizer …Gates cultivated black radicals to his race studies department, most prominently bringing in Cornel West, a controversial adviser on Louis Farrakhan’s Million Man March with lose ties to socialist and black extremist groups. West is a declared personal friend of Farrakhan. … Gates authored two books with West, a long-time member and honorary chair of the Democrat Socialists of America. West served on the black advisory board of Obama’s presidential campaign … (he ascribes to) the theology of James Cone.” Cone’s theology spawned Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s controversial pastor at the Trinity United Church of Christ (Chicago) attended by him and his family for over twenty years. “Gates is a strong supporter of affirmative action and a key member of the reparations movement for the descendants of African slaves. He joined an effort to bring a class action lawsuit for reparations and reportedly has been working privately to urge political and business leaders to keep the issue of slavery at the forefront of social-justice discussions and to support his campaign for reparations.”

Gates is as radical and angry a man as any in his movement. He does not seek to heal, he seeks vengeance. And that is what bothers me about this president’s former associates and his most recent reaction. Even his eventual apology was lacking. First he blamed the press for overreaching, then he invited both parties to the White House “for a beer”, admittedly a great gesture, but still refused to apologize. Rather he proclaimed that he “gave an impression” and basically could (not should) have used different words. Different words? He basically threw the police across the nation under the bus. This was reminiscent of what he did to his beloved grandmother who raised him when he called her a “typical white woman” during the campaign. Moreover, by stoking the flames of racial profiling, he has in effect told every African American that yes, they have a reason not to trust the police, yes they are victims, and yes they should resist “the man”. President Obama has forgotten one vital fact… he is “the man”, and it was the majority of white America who put him there. It is time that he understands the majority of white America is profoundly sorry for past treatment of black America. It is time to teach that America went to war and killed their kin, to make up for the fiendishness of slavery. It is time to understand that white America embraced the peace and love of the Rev. Martin Luther King… and changed society to level the playing field so that skin color is no longer an issue. We have embraced you, and yes, we (II reserve the right to criticize you when we (I) think you are wrong, but we (I) am proud that only in America could you have come from your humble beginnings in Kenya to ascend to the most powerful office in the world. President Obama, we the people do not see you as black, or half white, or African American, we see you as our president. And how could “we the people” express this in any greater way, than to have elected you by a landslide as our commander and chief. President Obama you have a chance to end racism forever in America, or continue to draw from your past as a radical Acorn Community Activist and as such be incapable of seeing any solution, any change, as anything but the opportunity to settle scores. It is up to you… like it or not, you are “the man”.

Perhaps this blogger makes my point more clear…

TWO WOLVES
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about
A battle that goes on inside people.
He said, “My son, the battle is between
Two wolves inside us all.

“One is Evil – It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed,
Arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride,
Superiority, and ego.

“The other is Good – It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity,
Humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth,
Compassion and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and
Then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Jihadists Mothers

Two Muslim mothers are sitting in a sidewalk
cafe, chatting over a plate of tabouli and a pint of goat’s milk…
The older of the two takes photos out of her purse and reminisces,
“This is my oldest son, Mohammed. He would have been 24 years old
now.”
“Yes, I remember him as a baby,” says the other mother cheerfully.
“He’s a martyr now, ” mum confides.
“Oh, so sad, dear,” says the other.
“And this is my second son Kalid. He would have been 21.”
“Oh, I remember him,” says the other, happily. “He had such curly hair
when he was
born.”
“He’s a martyr, too,” says mum, quietly.
“Oh, gracious me!” says the other.
“And this is my third son. My baby…my beautiful Ahmed. He would have
been 18,” she whispers.
‘Yes,” says the friend. “I remember when he first started school.”
“He, too, is a martyr,” mum says, now with tears in her eyes.
After a pause and a deep sigh, the second Muslim mother looks
wistfully at the photographs
and says…

“They blow up so fast, don’t they?”
