A. Brandon’s Summer Brandishing…
“Oceans”… From time to time we try to understand distance but fail… A simple step for one person may be an unfathomable “unreachable” distance for another…
A slight tolerance for some renders enough hope to know that a new beginning is near… for others a sweeping prayer can restore spirits unto a power and hope beyond imagination… then, and only then, tolerance becomes a virtue of trust and hope.
Hope is likened to watching a drying starfish washed back home into the sea… the beached starfish has no hope, but when the tide washes it back into the proper environment hope is restored and survival a reality in the eternal ocean which welcomes it home to its rightful place…
We, like the starfish, do not understand or dare hope for the salvation of our tides… rather we tend to worry about the sun and its devastation on our lives… when we are only a merciful sweep away from the power of the ocean if we only dare to seek its salvation… rather most lie motionless and helpless on the beach we ourselves create waiting for impending doom rather than seeking the salvation of the seas.
Yet, what movement can our bodies really make or strength move us to our “eternal ocean?” This dry beach is not our home and Our Spirit is not a victim if we dare to reach for the glory of everlasting life.
Our spirit yearns for satisfaction on this “dry beach” but the beach offers only damnation without the life giving ocean ever so close… just as a starfish cannot find life eternal in a sandcastle, this earth is not eternal home for mankind… The terms and time will come all to soon; will you choose to stay mired in the sandcastles of earth quenched with pain and loneliness, or will you seek to soak your spirit in the everlasting salvation of God’s infinite ocean. -Brandon Hamilton

B. Article CIA and Connecting the Dots…CIA, CIa, Cia, cia… let’s see, the guys who kept us safe, the CIA, those guys that questioned, yelled, intimidated, and even may have even deceived captured terrorists are under attack… from the Justice Department. I, for one, think those actions should qualify them for heroism awards, but there are those in this administration who feels it qualifies them for prison. Even life loing liberal Leon Panetta, Head of the CIA, agrees with me as he is rumored to have had a shouting match in the White House defending the actions and morale of his agents. So in the midst of the Health Care Crisis, the revelation that the White House miscalculated the national debt by… 2 trillion dollars, and the fact that more Americans were killed in Afghanistan as of yesterday than all of last year… our Attorney General decides to prosecute (persecute) CIA agents. How soon they forget the CIA are the good guys, the terrorists, the very same guys who cut off the heads of any but those who agree with their narrow radical Islamic beliefs, killed over 3,000 American civilians, and torture (real inhumane torture) and kill every American they capture… are the bad guys.
This Justice Department, led by Attorney General Eric Holder, felt there was nothing wrong with armed Black Panthers intimidating voters at polling places in Philadelphia (they refused to indict these thugs); feels justified in investigating and possible indicting the CIA Agents who kept us safe by, amongst other things, intimidating terrorists. Rather than concentrating on reversing the deficit or war casualties, this Administration is more interested in weakening our espionage in a perilous time. It is like this Administration is trying to make us more vulnerable both on and off the battle field. This is the same Attorney General who advised President Clinton to pardon Mark Rich after Rich donated monies to the Clinton Library. Holder saw no problem in pardoning Rich, the worst tax evader in American History, but he has a problem with everything from water boarding to intimidation of terrorists. By these egregious actions he is ignoring the safety of both the American military and citizen, while simultaneously protecting the ‘Constitutional Rights” of non citizens. Are these the actions of a rational Administration?
Can anybody remember the outrage after 911 because President Bush was not able to “connect the dots”? It turned out the reason for this was simply because the CIA had been emasculated by the Clinton Administration. Attorney General Holder makes former Attorney General Reno look like Charlie Brown. Whatever happened to common sense and patriotism? Let me be amongst the first to call for a simple remedy, a line in the sand if you will, let me be amongst the first to call for the impeachment of Attorney General Eric Holder.

Marilyn and Jamestown Patti sends us useful information on aspirin and heart attacks:
Aspirin and health.. If you take an aspirin or a baby aspirin once a day,
Take it at night.. the reason:
1) aspirin has a 24-hour “half-life”, therefore, since most heart attacks happen in the wee hours of the morning, the aspirin would be strongest in your system.
2) aspirin lasts a really long time in your medicine chest.. years, but, when it gets old, it smells like vinegar.
3) WHY ASPIRIN BY YOUR BED save lives … It is important to always have ASPIRIN in the home!!! Why have Aspirin by your bedside ?
The majority of people (about 60%) who had an heart attack during their sleep, did not wake up. However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep. If that happens, IMMEDIATELY DISSOLVE TWO ASPIRINS IN YOUR MOUTH and swallow them with a bit of water. Afterwards, phone 911 or a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by and state: “HEART ATTACK!!!” Let them know that you have taken 2 ASPIRINS. Remain calm and take a seat on a chair or sofa and wait for their arrival and … DO NOT LIE DOWN.
4) ABOUT HEART ATTACKS
There are other symptoms of heart attack besides the pain on the left arm. One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin (and jaw), as well as nausea and lots of sweating; however these symptoms may also occur less frequently.

E. Prayer Requests:
One last Note from Norma: 2 Chron. 7:1 Some folks passing through Texarkana last week noted signs in people’s yards that said, ” America, prayer is our only hope” with 2 Chron. 7:14 underneath.
After a day of contemplation and soul searching, I have decided to
reach out to my friends and relatives and ask you to do something that
has been troubling me for a long time.
Our nation is/has been on the slippery slope for a long time. If you
look around you will find corruption, greed, moral decay, and a steady
move away from the things that made us great. The principles upon
which this nation was founded are no longer our backbone.
However, we can reverse this trend.
2 Chron. 7:14 In God’s word He states, “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked
ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal
their Land.”
I am convinced that we must pray for our nation and its leaders and ask
for forgiveness. So I ask you to join me in this plea to our Lord.

As many of you know my good friend Bill went home to be with our Lord last May. His wife of 60 years, Rita, joined him last Saturday. Please pray for the family.
Please continue to pray for the family of Ann Thurber (Pastor Thurber and family) … she passed onto salvation three weeks ago and the funeral was last Friday.
Please pray for my sister Jane. She has had an acute exacerbation of her MS. She is responding to medication but is still tired and has developed a bacterial infection. Jane is improving but still very tired.
Continue to pray for missionary Curtis and his children Natalie, Reuben, & Kaylie Bergman as they lost their wife and mother two weeks ago (see above).
Maria – diabetes is critical. She had a skin and muscle biopsy and suspect small nerve neuropathy. Please continue to pray no change in her condition.
Clint: to find his son in Viet Nam and have the opportunity to present salvation to him
Pastor Neil S. (long time close friend) pray for God’s Will in his ministry.
Niece Rhonda is still weak but continues to work… continue to pray for strength and healing.
Brother Les is about the same, but gets disheartened. The burden is heavy and he has lost about 40 lbs. Please keep both Val and Les in prayer.
Transplants: Good Friend Keith – liver, Brother Pat – liver (see above); Good Friend Jim – kidney … please keep praying for their well being.
Update on Norma’s family:
Gr.son Cory is in Lockport Hosp. Having tests. Bruce doing well “rehabbing” after hip replacement-does that make him a “full grown/blown hippie” with 2 new hips? Gr.daughter, Rebecka is expecting Dalari Jo in Nov.-baby girl-name means hope in Turkish.
Sister Jane, Cousins Janet, and Karen for strength… all are suffering from MS. Janet is now in a nursing facility.

Pray for wisdom and spiritual guidance in rearing children for our family as well as the renewal of the nuclear family; pray that marriage stays as one man, one woman, but rights are extended to same gender unions.
Pray for truth in education… i.e. AIDS, abortion, evolution, and American History
Pray for our troops each evening at 9:00 pm. every night … pray that America wakes up to evil before it is too late
