“Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass…it’s about learning how to dance in the rain”
Quotations to live by: Men are more accountable for their motives, than for anything else; and primarily, morality consists in the motives, that is in the affections. -Archibald Alexander (http://www.quoteland.com/topic.asp?CATEGORY_ID=232)
A Prayer for America and her people:
God our Father, walk through our nation, take away our idolatries, and restore Your presence to our society. Please watch over, strengthen, and heal our families. We beg You to draw us to You, forgive us our great national sin of apathy (i.e. using Your name in vain, accepting abortion, denying public prayer and public worship, placing the god of materialism before You, questioning your authority in marriage, etc) and forgive us our individual trespasses’, as well as empowering us to forgive those who trespass against us… Lord Jesus please show us mercy and grace.
We ask this in the name of Jesus our Savior and Messiah
Amen.

Confession and Forgiveness: the Paramount Witness of a Christian
What is the greatest witness of a Christian? Many would say love. Love is after all both a Spiritual Gift and a Spiritual Fruit. It is the greatest of all gifts (1st Corinthians 13) and the fruit by which we are to be judged. So, when I make the above statement I by no means am trying to place it in second, while scripture clearly (explicitly) places it in first.
My point is pragmatic; it is quite easy to love the lovely, to love the popular, and to love those who love you back. Even the pagans do this. The unsaved do not see that as anything special. Yet when one loves their enemy, loves somebody who has done them harm, and loves the unlovely, unbelievers take notice… and that is no small witness. Moreover, they understand that action as unique to the doctrine of Jesus Christ.
You see, when somebody harms you it is our human nature to want to strike them back, rather than turn the other cheek. It is natural to plot to ‘get even’… but when one can forgive and shower them with love, that is very special… and a great witness to the unsaved.
The other side of that coin is the person who has done the harm; when that person confesses and asks forgiveness… with a broken and repentant heart and offering no excuse that is just as unique. But make no mistake even the world understands that there are two degrees of ‘repentance’. True repentance is exemplified by the broken and contrite heart. The second is not true regret for the wrong (sin) done to others, it is remorse driven by the consequence, the legal ramifications, as well as the embarrassment of their action. The world looks upon true repentance as astonishing; they look upon avoidance of legal ramifications and embarrassment as cynicism.
Scripture is filled with instructions on confession and forgiveness. But nothing has ever struck me as important as the confession we give when we repeat the Lord’s Prayer.
“And forgive us our trespasses (sins) as we forgive those who have trespassed (sinned) against us”
First and foremost Jesus tells us “pray like this”… it is a command that we pray that prayer. And each time we repeat the Lord’s Prayer, we are asking God our Father to forgive our sins against Him as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us. There is no room for vengeance, no room for getting even, no room for bitterness. We forgive, and ask Our Lord to forgive us in the very same measure. And when we forgive, the beauty of that forgiveness is that we will eventually forget.
Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity to forgive, it is up to us to forgive… whenever we have the opportunity to confess, it is up to us to confess and humbly ask forgiveness without excuse.
Our actions are the fruits by which we attract the unsaved into the flock. These are the fruits of true love and appreciation for the sacrifice Jesus made from the cross. When these two attributes, forgiveness and confession go on public display and fall short … it makes one wonder about today’s Christian… have we degenerated to man’s standards, and neglected those of Jesus Christ?

Best of Bones: (from davidbellavia.com):
Throw Out the Sausage
I am sick and tired of the press, yes even the conservative press, making excuses for voter fraud. I am an American that could care less how you think ‘sausage’ should be made, or how it has been made in the past. We should be concentrating on how it should be made… and the formula prescribed by the Constitution. One man (woman) one vote and anything else must be prosecuted.
I do not want my vote to be cancelled out by an illegal alien, a dead person, or a felon. I am a law abiding citizen who pays and has paid his taxes for decades… that allows me no more than a single vote. Why should they get the same, or more? Why should we stand by while our fighting forces are not even allowed a vote? One citizen, one vote should be the law of the land. But it is not.

One need only review the latest fiasco by left. It occurred on Saturday with the ‘insane’ Sanity Rally. The popular Comedy Channel stars John Stewart and Steven Colbert promised it would be an even handed event, with neither the left nor the right afforded any privileges. But in effect it turned out to be almost exclusively a young white adult leftist event. Reports of a plethora of signs both gross and bigoted against conservative candidates (Tea Party, etc.) were sited. Moreover, the Democratic National Committee operatives were allowed to both hand out absentee ballots from various districts, and plant agitators throughout the partisan crowd.
and left-leaning advocacy groups set up shop on the periphery, hoping to draw people to their causes of gay rights, marijuana legalization, abortion rights and more…. Organizing for America, Obama’s political operation based at Democratic National Committee headquarters, was mounting a “Phone Bank for Sanity” to urge people to vote Tuesday….
Most of those pouring onto the Mall Saturday appeared to be younger than 35, and the signs they carried showed a decidedly left-wing bent: “I hope this isn’t a trap,” “I masturbate to Christine O’Donnell,” “Communism was a red herring.”
Most signs fit with the happy-go-lucky ethos of the rally, but others were crude. One sign had Hitler mustaches on pictures of Sarah Palin, Eric Cantor, Glenn Beck and John Boehner. The message said, “Afraid yet?” This is particularly insulting to Cantor, who is Jewish and in line to become House majority leader if Republicans win the chamber next week…
Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert may not want an overtly political rally on Saturday, but the Democratic National Committee is doing everything it can to capitalize on the event.
Volunteers and staff members from the headquarters are greeting people as they get off of the buses or arrive in Washington on trains, armed with sign-up sheets for canvassing efforts in districts across the country.
And for those rally attendees who have not gotten enough of politics by the end of the rally, they can head over to the the committee’s headquarters a few blocks away, where there will be a phone bank. Committee officials said they expected to get at least 100 people there.
Add to that the latest cheating uncovered in Alaska and we have sausage ‘Chicago Style’:
”Clearly the reporters were conspiring to set up some type of smear of Joe Miller. With glee, they even cite a recent controversy over an incident involving the Rand Paul campaign, while discussing how they would spread the story via social media after whatever incident they had in mind came off. It also brings to mind another recent episode that ended with Jerry Brown’s California gubernatorial campaign being caught up in controversy when someone from Brown’s camp called Brown’s opponent, Republican Meg Whitman, a “whore.”

I am tired of political rhetoric, promises, and lies; I am tired of a biased press, I am tired of a non-constitutional government. I only ask one adult citizen, one vote. Is that asking too much in this ‘brave new transformed America’?

A kindergarten teacher was walking around observing her classroom of children while they were drawing pictures. As she got to one girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, “I’m drawing God.” The teacher paused and said, “But no one knows what God looks like.” Without looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, “They will in a minute.”
The secret of a good sermon is to have a good beginning and a good ending; and to have the two as close together as possible. – George Burns
A Sunday school teacher asked the children just before she dismissed them to go to church, “And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?” Annie replied, “Because people are sleeping”
At Sunday School they were learning how God created everything, including human beings. Johnny was especially intent when the teacher told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam’s ribs. Later in the week his mother noticed him lying down as though he were ill, and said, “Johnny, what is the matter?” Johnny responded, “I have pain in my side. I think I’m going to have a wife.”
A funeral service is being held in a chuch for a woman who has just passed away. At the end of the service, the pallbearers carrying the casket accidentally bump into a wall jarring the casket. They hear a faint moan. They open the casket and find that the women is actually alive. She lives for 10 more years and then dies. A ceremony is again held at the same church and at the end the pallbearers are again carrying the casket out. As they are walking, the husband calls out, “Watch out for the wall!”
It was Palm Sunday but because of a sore throat, 5-year-old Johnny stayed home from church with a sitter. When the family returned home, they were carrying several palm fronds. Johnny asked them what they were for.
“People held them over Jesus’ head as he walked by,” his father told him.
“Wouldn’t you know it,” Johnny fumed, “the one Sunday I don’t go and he shows up.”
One Easter Sunday morning as the pastor was preaching a children’s sermon, he reached into his bag of props and pulled out an egg. He pointed at the egg and asked the children, “What’s in here?” “I know, I know!” a little boy exclaimed, “pantyhose!”
An inexperienced preacher was to hold a graveside burial service at a pauper’s cemetery for an indigent man with no family or friends. Not knowing where the cemetery was, he made several wrong turns and got lost. When he eventually arrived an hour late, the hearse was nowhere in sight, the backhoe was next to the open hole, and the workmen were sitting under a tree eating lunch. The diligent young pastor went to the open grave and found the vault lid already in place. Feeling guilty because of his tardiness, he preached an impassioned and lengthy service, sending the deceased to the great beyond in style. As he returned to his car, he overheard one of the workman say to the other, “I’ve been putting in septic tanks for twenty years and I ain’t never seen anything like that.”
Several children found a dead robin. Feeling that a proper burial should be performed, they secured a small box and some cotton batting, dug a hole in the back yard, and made ready to dispose of the deceased. The minister’s 5-year-old son was chosen to say the prayer. And so with great dignity, he intoned, “Glory be to the Father…and unto the Son…and into the hole he goes.”

Sister Val sends us: Obama at the bat
http://www.angelfire.com/ak2/intelligencerreport/obama_at_bat.html

A nurse on the pediatric ward, before listening to the little ones’ chests, would plug the stethoscope into their ears and let them listen to their own heart. Their eyes would always light up with awe, but she never got a response equal to four-year old David ‘s comment. Gently she tucked the stethoscope into his ears and placed the disk over his heart. ‘Listen’, she said…’What do you suppose that is?’ He drew his eyebrows together in a puzzled line and looked up as if lost in the mystery of the strange tap – tap – tapping deep in his chest. Then his face broke out in a wondrous grin and he asked,
‘Is that Jesus knocking?’

The media claims “death panels” are NOT part of PBO’s health reform. Well, think again. Here is proof, including where it is embedded in the bill and what will happen if doctors do not comply. This should send chills down your spines. Remember, Washington is going to tell your doctor what medical care to provide you starting at age 60.

American Family Association sent this to me… Merry Christmas!
October 29, 2010
Dear William D,
A few years ago American Family Association noticed a trend among major corporations (which profit from Christmas sales) not wanting to recognize Christmas. Since that time we have been making the public aware of these companies while applauding those companies which are not making the “politically correct” decision to censor the word “Christmas.”
Here’s how you can take a stand for Christmas. AFA is making available an attractive display box of buttons that carry this thought-provoking, Gospel-focused message found in Matthew 1:23 – “God with us!”
I’m asking individuals like you in thousands of communities across the nation to head up this project in their local churches. Your willingness to underwrite the cost for your church and enthusiastically promote this project is the key to making an impact in your area.

Order your personal pack of 10 or 30 buttons today, or, sponsor your entire church by choosing a Large or Small Church Packet or the NEW Display Box of 250 buttons. And, we will include FREE SHIPPING on all Christmas buttons and stickers.
| Sincerely,
Tim Wildmon, President |

God is Crazy about you… Jamestown Patti
We live in a world today, which tries to say too much with too little. Consequently, few listen. Sometimes the best sermons are the ones left unspoken.

The Lord is my Shepherd —– that’s a Relationship!
I shall not want —– that’s Supply!
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures —-that’s Rest!
He leadeth me beside the still waters —–that’s Refreshment!
He restoreth my soul —– that’s Healing!
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness –that’s Guidance!
For His name’s sake —– that’s Purpose!
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death–that’s Testing!
I will fear no evil —– that’s Protection!
For Thou art with me —– that’s Faithfulness!
Thy rod and Thy staff comfort me —–that’s Discipline!
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies—that’s Hope!
Thou annointest my head with oil —– that’s Consecration!
My cup runneth over —– that’s Abundance!
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life—-that’s Blessing!
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord —–that’s Security!
Forever —-that’s Eternity!
Face it, God is crazy about you!

“Praying for Bodily Health”
“Undoubtedly, it is good that you request bodily health from God. If He knows it is for your greater good, He will give it to you. If He does not give it, then it was not for your advantage. God knows, therefore, what is better for us. Let us seek only that our heart be free from sin.”

Billy Graham’s Prayer For Our Nation:

‘Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, ‘Woe to those who call evil good,’ but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics.. We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and Set us free. Amen!’
Be Blessed and Be a Blessing
