Medical Update
I want to thank you for the prayers and concern shown me over these past few days. As you know last Wed. 7/27, I had robotic surgery to remove my cancerous prostate gland. The surgeon was encouraged by the results (frozen section revealed no invasion) but we must wait until 8/8 for the definitive microscopic diagnosis.

Saturday morning I awoke with an actual appetite for both food and life for the first time since Wed. That was yesterday, today was a bit of a set back with the catheter getting clogged by a blood clot. We spent a good portion of the day in the ER in Medina with Dr. Joseph directing them. The ER staff was magnificent. In the meantime two other doctors, our good friend Dr. M. Dewy and my brother (son) Gerard’s good friend Dr. Walters explained the complication and set our souls to peace. Of course David and Papa were checking in and encouraging us on the hour. I know we would have gotten a bit discouraged, had they not intervened.
But I must remind myself of my own rhetoric; this experience is all about my walk with Jesus and learning to walk in the rain… with Him.
At any rate the procedure of flushing the catheter worked and as of now, with one setback, it seems to be improving. They sent me home with a ‘do it yourself kit’… this cancer thing is proving to be some kind of challenge.
While Pastor Neil blessed us with his art last Wed. the IRS decided we needed another audit… our 10th and 4th since our disability, all under Democratic ‘Regimes’… harassment or co-incidence and for you skeptics they have never found a single wrong doing or collected!
Yet what is still most important to me is that when I awoke from the surgery virtually all of my neck, shoulder, wrist, leg, and foot pain had subsided. My arthritis, ruptured disc, and tendonitis have not reared their ugly heads since then… even with today’s ordeal. There is no medical explanation for this phenomenon (the arm was diagnosed as tendonitis and was resistant to cortisone injections; the neck was diagnosed as a ruptured disc and treated with heavy narcotics and a neck collar… by two different physicians). The only explanation is answered prayer; your prayer. And both Marilyn and I wish to thank all of you from the very bottom of our rather stressed hearts. We thank you for your faith and we thank God for ours.

As of the time of this posting the president has announced that an agreement has been reached by leaders in both parties of both the House and Senate. It seems that most of the Republican goals and the President’s goal of not bringing this up during the election has been met. There are no definitive details at this time to avoid the default date. But there is a pending deal. Votes have not been taken…

Republican and Democratic Congressional leaders are indicating they have agreed to a compromise debt ceiling deal with the White House. The framework of the deal includes $1 in cuts for every dollar raised in the debt ceiling; no new taxes; and no more votes on the debt ceiling until after the 2012 election. |
The President fulfills Rule #1 & 2 as he has given on cuts in exchange for not bringing this up again… until after the election. This is most expedient for him… and he threw his Congressional Leaders under the bus on the way to this agreement. And remember he did this without putting a plan on the table.

I saw this cute quote from the Washington Times. They framed the president’s inability to come up with a plan in this manner (paraphrased): ‘The only problem with a teleprompter is that it can’t come up with a plan.’
The Democrats in Congress, so far, have held their own as they fulfilled Rule #3… to the letter. But Pelosi and Reed were on the outside looking in as the negotiations involved the Executive Branch (Biden as well as Obama had a hand in it) with the Republican leaders in the House and Senate.
In fact as of this evening (7/31) the progressives in the House will join with the Congressional Black Caucus and demand that he president take the legally questionable tactic to raise the debt limit on his own by invoking the 14th Amendment. See these guys really believe in their substantially flawed platform and will fight to the last man to advance it.
The Republican lead House was true to Rule 4 as they did everything but rush to compromise. It is obvious that Speaker Boehner would have caved weeks ago if he was surrounded by his ‘good ole boys’. And his counterpart Mitch McConnell in the Senate made me look good by sabotaging the house’s “Cut, Cap, and Balance Plan” before it was articulated. McConnell offered his own pabulum in a compromise plan which looked more like surrender than a compromise.
But here comes the new rule (#5) with the new guys in town. The Tea Party Republicans held their ground and forced this entire issue. And contrary to the main stream media’s mania against it, they have given us hope that America may still be able to right her ship by simply using common sense.

Two patients limp into two different medical clinics with the same complaint. Both have trouble walking and appear to require a hip replacement.
The FIRST patient is examined within the hour, is x-rayed the same day and has a time booked for surgery the following week.
The SECOND sees his family doctor after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment, then waits 8 weeks to see a specialist, then gets an x-ray, which isn’t reviewed for another week and finally has his surgery scheduled for 6 months from then.
Why the different treatment for the two patients?
The FIRST is a Golden Retriever.
The SECOND is a Senior Citizen.

50th Anniversary……
A couple were celebrating 50 years together. Their three kids,
all very successful, agreed to a Sunday dinner in their honor.
“Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad,” gushed son number one …. ‘Sorry I’m running late. I had an emergency at the hospital with a patient, you know how it is, and I didn’t have time to get you a gift.”
“Not to worry,” said the father. “The important thing is that we’re
all together today.”
Son number two arrived and announced, “You and Mom look great, Dad. I just flew in from Los Angeles between depositions and didn’t have time to shop for you.”
It’s nothing,” said the father. “We’re glad you were able to come.”
Just then the daughter arrived. “Hello and happy anniversary! I’m
so sorry, but my boss is sending me out of town and I was really busy
packing so I didn’t have time to get you anything..”
After they had finished dessert, the father said, “There’s something
your mother and I have wanted to tell you for a long time. You see,
we were very poor. Despite this, we were able to send each of you to
college. Throughout the years your mother and I knew that we loved
each other very much, but we just never found the time to get
married.”
The three children gasped and all said, “You mean we’re bastards?”

Catholic Heart Attack
A man suffered a serious heart attack while shopping in a store. The
store clerks called 911 when they saw him collapse to the floor. The
paramedics rushed the man to the nearest hospital where he had emergency open heart bypass surgery.
He awakened from the surgery to find himself in the care of nuns at
the Catholic Hospital he was taken to.
A nun was seated next to his bed holding a clip board loaded with several forms, and a pen. She asked him how he was going to pay for his treatment.
“Do you have health insurance?” she asked.
He replied in a raspy voice, “No health insurance.”
The nun asked, “Do you have money in the bank?”
He replied, “No money in the bank.”
“Do you have a relative who could help you with the payments?”
asked the irritated nun.
He said, “I only have a spinster sister, and she is a nun.”

Ms. Cindy William wrote a piece for the Washington Times denouncing the pay raise(s) coming service members’ way this year citing that she stated a 13% wage increase was more than they deserve.
A young airman from Hill AFB responds to her article below. He ought to get a bonus for this.
“Ms Williams:
I just had the pleasure of reading your column, “Our GI’s earn enough” and I am a bit confused. Frankly, I’m wondering where this vaunted overpayment is going, because as far as I can tell, it disappears every month between DFAS (The Defense Finance and Accounting Service) and my bank account. Checking my latest earnings statement I see that I make $1,117.80 before taxes per month. After taxes, I take home $874.20. When I run that through the calculator, I come up with an annual salary of $13,413.60 before taxes, and $10,490.40 after.
I work in the Air Force Network Control Center where I am part of the team responsible for a 5,000 host computer network. I am involved with infrastructure segments, specifically with Cisco Systems equipment. A quick check under jobs for “Network Technicians” in the Washington , D.C. area reveals a position in my career field, requiring three years experience in my job. Amazingly, this job does NOT pay $13,413.60 a year. No, this job is being offered at $70,000 to $80,000 per annum………… I’m sure you can draw the obvious conclusions..
Given the tenor of your column, I would assume that you NEVER had the pleasure of serving your country in her armed forces.
Before you take it upon yourself to once more castigate congressional and DOD leadership for attempting to get the families in the military’s lowest pay brackets off of WIC and food stamps, I suggest that you join a group of deploying soldiers headed for AFGHANISTAN ; I leave the choice of service branch up to you. Whatever choice you make though, opt for the SIX month rotation: it will guarantee you the longest possible time away from your family and friends, thus giving you full “deployment experience.”
As your group prepares to board the plane, make sure to note the spouses and children who are saying good-bye to their loved ones. Also take care to note that several families are still unsure of how they’ll be able to make ends meet while the primary breadwinner is gone. Obviously they’ve been squandering the “vast” piles of cash the government has been giving them.
Try to deploy over a major holiday; Christmas and Thanksgiving are perennial favorites.. And when you’re actually over there, sitting in a foxhole, shivering against the cold desert night, and the flight sergeant tells you that there aren’t enough people on shift to relieve you for chow, remember this: trade whatever MRE’s (meal-ready-to-eat) you manage to get for the tuna noodle casserole or cheese tortellini, and add Tabasco to everything. This gives some flavor.
Talk to your loved ones as often as you are permitted; it won’t be nearly long enough or often enough, but take what you can get and be thankful for it. You may have picked up on the fact that I disagree with most of the points you present in your open piece.
But, tomorrow from KABUL , I will defend to the death your right to say it.
You see, I am an American fighting man, a guarantor of your First Amendment right and every other right you cherish…On a daily basis, my brother and sister soldiers worldwide ensure that you and people like you can thumb your collective noses at us, all on a salary that is nothing short of pitiful and under conditions that would make most people cringe. We hemorrhage our best and brightest into the private sector because we can’t offer the stability and pay of civilian companies.
And you, Ms.. Williams, have the gall to say that we make more than we deserve?

It shows a Muslim woman who was given free medical attention by the Israelis for burns months earlier, now arrive at a check point – supposedly pregnant and demanding access to the same hospital. Security refuses to let her enter until she is searched….and, you’ll see the rest.

This is a woman who about a year earlier was treated for massive burn over her body from a cooking gas tank explosion. She is stopped at the border when she wants to return to the same hospital in Israel due to pregnancy.
Due to suspicion and security integrity, she is asked to undress at the border terminal.
And the world asks: “why do the Israelis need checkpoints, and a border fence?” watch the video, and “get” the answer.

Remember the violent and disgusting demonstrations over Wisconsin Gov.
Scott Walker doing away with the collective bargaining for Teacher’s
Unions? The results are in. Some school districts went from a
$400,000 deficit to a $1,500,000 surplus as a result. Why? It seems
that the insurance company that provided all the so-called benefits
to the teachers, was an insurance company owned and operated by the
teacher’s union. Since they were guaranteed to get the insurance
business from the teachers and the State had to pay for it, and not
the teachers, they were increasing the annual costs every single year
to become the most expensive insurance company in the state. Then the
insurance company was donating millions and millions of dollars to
their favorite democrat politicians, who when they got elected,
guaranteed to keep funding the unions outrageous costs. In other
words, the insurance company was a “pass through” for Wisconsin
taxpayer money directly to the democrat politicians.
Nice racket and this is the racket that is going on in every single
State that allows collective bargaining. No wonder the States are
taking it away. Now that the State of Wisconsin is free to put the
insurance contract out for bid, and lo and behold, they have saved so
much money it has turned deficits into surplus amounts. As a result,
none of the teachers had to be laid off, everyone got a raise, etc.,
etc., and the taxpayers of Wisconsin don’t have to pay more taxes to
fund the union’s political ambitions.
If you weren’t aware of the reasons why Gov. Walker was fighting to
take away collective bargaining, it gives you an idea of the problem
the Republican Party has. Outside of one or two, none of them know
how to speak up and explain properly what the problem was. We could
sure use a Ronald Reagan now, someone who could explain things for
people to understand, since we know that people don’t like to read
anymore.

This is from Mark Knoller of CBS. The pilots and crew of Air Force One are flying more hours than a rookie on a beer run.
They are tired of it too, and are adding more crew to Air Force-1, – I know this for a fact because I’m one of the instructors that trains the crews. Our company (Atlas Air) has had the Air Force-1 and E-4 contract for over two years and I’ve been doing it for about 8 months now.
Last year (2010) Obama flew in Air Force One 172 times, almost every other day. White House officials have been telling reporters in recent days that the Democrat doesn’t intend to hang around the White House quite so much in 2011. They explain he wants to get out more around the country because, as everyone knows, that midterm election shellacking on Nov. 2 had nothing to do with his health care bill, over-spending or other policies, and everything to do with Obama’s not adequately explaining himself to his countrymen and women.
And with only 673 days remaining in Obama’s never ending presidential campaign, the incumbent’s travel pace will not likely slacken. At an Air Force-estimated cost of $181,757 per flight HOUR (not to mention the additional travel costs of Marine One, Secret Service, logistics and local police overtime), that’s a lot of frequent flier dollars going into Obama’s carbon footprint.
We are privy to some of these numbers thanks to CBS’ M ark Knoller, a bearded national treasure trove of presidential stats. According to Knoller’s copious notes, during the last year, Obama made 65 domestic trips over 104 days, and six trips to eight countries over 22 days. Not counting six vacation trips over 32 days.
He took 196 helicopter trips, signed 203 pieces of legislation and squeezed in 29 rounds of left-handed golf.
Obama last year gave 491 speeches, remarks or statements. That’s more talki ng than goes on in some entire families, at least from fatherly mouths. In fact, even including the 24 days of 2010 that we never saw Obama in public, his speaking works out to about one official utterance every 11 waking hours. Aides indicate the “Real Good Talker” believes we need more.

“Fast & Furious” Hearings Raise More Questions Than Answers
The more information that comes out about the reckless “Fast and Furious” gun running operation conducted by the Phoenix BATFE office, the more clear it seems that knowledge of the operation, and approval for it, went a lot higher than the Phoenix field office, or even the BATFE.
There is now clear evidence, uncovered by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee headed by Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) that senior Obama Administration officials were aware of this disastrous operation.
Last Tuesday, Rep. Issa conducted another round of hearings. Among those who testified were William Newell and William McMahon, BATFE Special Agents who oversaw the program in Phoenix. Those hearings revealed that senior Dept. of Justice officials, including former Deputy Attorney General David Ogden and Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer, knew about the program. nra.com
God is Prolife… Are You?
The Abortion Lobby is celebrating their latest victory over the unborn.
While they claim to be working for the welfare of women, this fight proves all they really care about is protecting the Abortion industry’s bottom line.
You see, back in May the Governor of South Dakota, Dennis Daugaard, passed a law that would help women fully consider the consequences of having an abortion.
Amongst other measures, it included women receiving counseling from a crisis pregnancy center and waiting 72 hours before going through with the procedure.
A MERE 3 days.
But the Pro-Abortion Lobby could not accept even this minor restraint on their death agenda and so Planned Parenthood successfully sued to block this new law.
They don’t want women to take even an hour to re-think a decision to have an abortion even though many women are scared or simply misled about the real nature and consequences of an abortion.
Planned Parenthood doesn’t really want to help women, or to protect their rights. They just want to make money by killing babies.
While Americans for Life will not settle for anything less than the complete acknowledgment of the rights of the unborn, this law is an important step in trimming back the reach of the Abortion Lobby and in protecting women.
We must let elected officials know that Americans support laws which slow down the slaughter of innocent babies.
Never before has there been such a wave of Pro-Life Legislation sweeping our country. Pro-Abortion Lobbyists are afraid because in dozens of states right now, laws are being written to curb the wave of baby killing.

Recall in Wisconsin
Hi everyone, it’s Lloyd Marcus, Co-Chairman of The Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama. I just learned yesterday from our Executive Director that we have obtained the latest poll results in 3 of the districts where Republicans are facing RECALL elections in Wisconsin on August 9th. The polls show some great news: we are holding on against the onslaught of millions of dollars by Obama’s allies, MoveOn.org, and the public employee unions.
Here’s a review of the results from three of the races. The poll was conducted by Public Policy Polling (7/21/-7/24). PPP is a traditionally Democratic polling firm, so if anything these numbers are skewed towards the Democrat candidates, which means we are probably doing even better than the results below show:

In Senate District 14, the Republican incumbent trails, but by just 2%.
In Senate District 2, the Republican leads by 4%.

Editor’s Note: John Stott died today at 3:15 London time (about 9:15 a.m. CST), according to John Stott Ministries President Benjamin Homan. Homan said that Stott’s death came after complications related to old age and that he has been in discomfort for the last several weeks. Family and close friends gathered with Stott today as they listened to Handel’s Messiah. Homan said that John Stott Ministries has been preparing for his death for the past 15 years. “I think he set an impeccable example for leaders of ministries of handing things over to other leaders,” Homan said. “He imparted to many a love for the global church and imparted a passion for biblical fidelity and a love for the Savior.” Billy Graham’s spokesperson released the following statement from the evangelist: “The evangelical world has lost one of its greatest spokesmen, and I have lost one of my close personal friends and advisors. I look forward to seeing him again when I go to Heaven.”
