One Light Bulb at a Time
A physics teacher in high school, once told the Students that while one grasshopper on the railroad tracks wouldn’t Slow a train very much, a billion of them would. With that thought in mind, read the following, obviously written by an astute American!
I was in Lowes the other day for something, and just for the heck of it I was looking at the hose attachments. They were all made in China . The next day I was in Ace Hardware and decided to compare the hose attachments there. They were made in USA .
We need to start looking at labels. . .In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects someone else. . .even their job.
My grandson likes Hershey’s candy. I noticed though, that it is labeled “Made in Mexico “. I don’t buy it anymore. I’ve opted for Nestles, they have a plant in
Modesto, CA.
My favorite toothpaste Colgate is made in Mexico . . .So I have now have switched to Crest. You have to read the labels on everything.
This past weekend I was at Home Depot. I needed 60w light bulbs and Bounce dryer sheets. I was in the light bulb aisle, and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off-brand labeled, “Everyday Value.” I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the stats, they were the same except for the price. The GE bulbs cost more than the Everyday Value brand as one might expect. But what really surprised me was that GE was “Made in Mexico ” while the “Everyday Value” brand was Made in the
USA; by a company in Cleveland , Ohio .
So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that are made right here.
So on to another aisle – Bounce Dryer Sheets. Yep, you guessed it, Bounce cost more money and is made in Canada . The Everyday Value brand was less money and MADE IN THE USA ! I did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the Bounce Free I have been using for years. . .and at almost half the price!
My challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for everyday things and see what you can find that is made in the USA . . .The job you save may be your neighbors. . .or your own!
If you accept the challenge, pass this on to others in your address book so we can all start buying American, one light bulb at a time! Stop buying from outsourced
companies! Let’s get with the program!

A young couple wanted to join the Church. The priest told them, “We have a special requirement for new member couples. You must abstain from sex for one whole month.
The couple agreed, but after two-and-a-half weeks returned to the Church. When the Priest ushered them into his office, the wife was crying and the husband was obviously very depressed.
” You are back so soon… Is there a problem?” the priest inquired.
“We are terribly ashamed to admit that we did not manage to abstain from sex for the required month.” the young man replied sadly. The priest asked him what happened.
“Well, the first week was difficult… However, we managed to abstain through sheer willpower.”The second week was terrible, but with the use of prayer, we managed to abstain.”
“However, the third week was unbearable. We tried cold showers, prayer, reading from the Bible…anything to keep our minds off carnal thoughts.”
“One afternoon my wife reached for a can of paint and dropped it. When she bent over to pick it up, I was overcome with lust and I just had my way with her right then and there. It was lustful, loud, passionate sex. It lasted for over an hour and when we were done we were both drenched in sweat.” admitted the man, shamefacedly.
The priest lowered his head and said sternly, ” You understand this means you will not be welcome in our church.”
“We know.” said the young man, hanging his head, “We’re not welcome at Home Depot either.”

Son answers: ‘Well, in that case…ok’
Next Luigi approaches Bill Gates and says.
‘I have a husband for your daughter…’
Bill Gates answers: ‘But my daughter is too young to marry!!’
Luig says: ‘But this young man is a vice-president of the World Bank’
Bill Gates answers: ‘Ah, in that case….ok’
Finally Luigi goes to see the president of the World Bank.
Luigi says: ‘I have a young man to be recommended as a vice-president.’
President answers: ‘But I already have more vice-presidents than I need!’
Luigi says : ‘But this young man is Bill Gates’ son-in-law.’
President answers: ‘Ah, in that case…ok’

In Washington an old priest lay dying in the hospital. For years he
had faithfully served the people of the nation’s capital. He motioned
for his nurse to come near.
“Yes, Father?” said the nurse.
“I would really like to see Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi before I
die”, whispered the priest.
“I’ll see what I can do, Father”, replied the nurse.
The nurse sent the request to The House and Senate waited for a
response.
Soon the word arrived; Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi would be
delighted to visit the priest.
As they went to the hospital, Reid commented to Pelosi, “I don’t
know why the old priest wants to see us, but it will certainly help
our images and might even get me re-elected.”
Pelosi agreed that it was a good thing.
When they arrived at the priest’s room, the priest took Reid’s hand
in his right hand and Pelosi’s hand in his left.
There was silence and a look of serenity on the old priest’s face.
Finally Nancy Pelosi spoke.
“Father, of all the people you could have chosen, why did you
choose us to be with you as you near the end?”
The old priest slowly replied, “I have always tried to pattern my
life after Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”
“Amen”, said Reid.
“Amen”, said Pelosi.
The old priest continued, “Jesus died between two lying thieves; I
would like to do the same.”

Brother Pat for loss of his father this past week… funeral will be Thur 3/4/10…. please keep him, his sisters and mother in prayer …
Wanda S’s brother died this past week while she was on her way to see him. This is the brother that had cancer and who’s wife died last July. Please pray for the family.
Wanda also said that her mother is in the hospital right now, but if she does well enough tonight, they will release her to the nursing home tomorrow.
This is a really hard time for Wanda and her family. Please pray for all of them.

Cousin Dick (Jamestown Patti’s brother) cancer of prostate… radiation treatment is underway, while we’re praying include Jamestown Patti she is the main caregiver and both her and Dick are disabled.
Close friend Norma W passed away after long illness… please continue to pray for family and husband Chuck
